Six Lives - Exhibition by Nadia Bettega - 22-23 August 2009

Six Lives
A new exhibition by photographer Nadia Bettega
Friday 22nd - Sunday 23rd August 2009

Six Lives bears testimony to the concept of service through the lives of six pensioners residing in the UK’s oldest military care-home, the Royal Hospital in Chelsea. The preview evening will be held on Friday 21st August 2009, between 5pm-9pm, at Acquire Arts on 155 Battersea Park Road, SW8 4BU.

The exhibition contemplates the parallels between the six men serving during the Second World
War and their present day lives; their experiences as young adults during the war, their loss of
family and friends and how they lived as part of a wider family through their military career,
portraying the impact on whom they are today and their capacity to serve others. It draws on a
quintessentially British world, and to many the epitome of British history and tradition. It celebrates a culture of service and community, demonstrating that it still exists today, highlighting what might not be tomorrow.

Six Lives will run from Friday 21st - Sunday 23rd August at Acquire Arts, 155 Battersea Park Road, London, SW8 4BU. All proceeds/donations from the exhibition will go towards the refurbishment of the Royal Hospital Long Wards, a 300 year old accommodation in the main building This project was made possible by the generous support of the Royal Borough Of Kensington and Chelsea
